Special Notes The Synchro Rings are friction rings that synchronize the speed of the transmission to that of the drivetrain before shifting. This permits the gears to engage without grinding. When the synchros begin to wear down the gears will then engage at different speeds resulting in gear grinding. Replacing your Synchro Rings at the first sign of grinding will save you from a much more costly job of replacing your Dog Teeth and sliders!
